Abstract
The COVID world-wide pandemic is changing business norms, forcing many to WFH (work from home), and SFH (school/study from home), and driving data (both business and personal) to the edge of our networks and beyond (homes, autos and mobile devices). This has caused major challenges to the management of trusted data as an asset with appropriate security, privacy and regulatory compliance for all parties involved.
The growing awareness of the need for trusted timely accurate data has resulted in a soaring demand for organization data governance across all facets of data management. We begin this year with an unclear future, but growing demand for Data Governance, Data Strategy and focused Data Vision.
What are, and what will be, the most important data management trends impacting your organization as we move forward in 2021 and beyond? What data technology developments do you need to know about to future-proof your Data Governance Vision and Strategy?
We will discuss the major challenges we are all facing in supporting hybrid diverse business users, suppliers and customers and regulators. We will also discuss how organizations can solve these challenges and create a data strategy and data governance program through an evolving data vision appropriate for 2021 and beyond.
Topics to be covered include:
Where are we now?
- Methods for assessing Data Management Maturity
- Identifying current Data Capabilities & desired Data Capabilities
Where we want to be?
- Establishing an initial Data Vision 1.0 (6 elements) and gaining executive buy-in
- The importance of a Communication Plan
- Promoting Data Literacy (3 step program) for collaboration and clear communication
How are we going to get there?
- Developing both a holistic and a focused Data Strategy (2) through a clear Data Vision tied to desired Business Outcomes in order to maximize Data Customer Value
- Data Governance and planned Data Literacy Program (‘No Data Consumer Left Behind’)
- Data Technology for Automating Data Governance
