Abstract  

Data is most powerful when it flows seamlessly through both business capabilities and technologies and provides insights across the organization. Data domains organize your company’s vast amount of data into a common framework that bridges the gap between business and technology teams. This session will use fun and easy to understand kitchen references to explain the importance of data organization and how Columbia Sportswear has categorized its data into a set of foundational data domains that drive Data Stewardship, Enterprise Services, the Data Lake, and more.


Biography of Debra Kaysen

Debra has been working in data (modeling, architecture, and  management) for 22 years for - Nike for 18 and Columbia Sportswear for the last 4+ as their Enterprise Data Strategist. Debra's soapbox focus is reconnecting business with the data they create. Debra has a latent blog, dataisfood, which lays out some of the basics of data.
