The Data Management Association – Minnesota Chapter (DAMA-MN) is a not-for-profit, vendor-independent, professional organization dedicated to advancing the concepts and practices of enterprise information and data resource management. Established in the early 1980s as one of the pioneering chapters of DAMA International, DAMA-MN has a long-standing history as a thought leader in the local data management community. Over the decades, we've hosted numerous educational events, collaborated with industry experts, and provided a platform for data professionals to share knowledge and best practices. We take pride in our legacy and remain committed to driving excellence in data management for years to come.​

Grounded in the globally recognized Data Management Body of Knowledge (DM-BOK), our mission is to translate foundational principles into practical impact, helping professionals at all levels better manage, govern, and activate data for lasting value.

Our Objectives

  • Cultivate a connected and collaborative data community by offering open forums, networking opportunities, and peer-to-peer knowledge exchange.
  • Deliver high-value learning experiences through engaging chapter meetings, workshops, conferences, and special interest events that reflect evolving industry needs.
  • Support the professional growth of data leaders and practitioners by promoting best practices, career development, and thought leadership grounded in the DM-BOK.
  • Champion the strategic role of data management in enabling trustworthy, ethical, and innovative use of data—especially in a world increasingly shaped by AI and automation.

DAMA International (DAMA-I) is a not-for-profit, vendor independent association of technical and business professionals dedicated to advancing the concepts and practices for data resource management and enterprise information. DAMA-I is the parent organization of the DAMA-MN, and has chapters and members throughout the world.
